Washington Post - The Future of Domains
For an article that ran on the front page of The Washington Post on February 7, 2011, JESS3 worked closely with the paper to create an illustration surrounding a complex article exploring the soon to be released Top Level Domains.
In both the article as well as our illustration, the focus is a shift away from traditional extensions like .com, .org and .net to emerging domains like .sport, .run and .life. The skyscrapers represent the future of the web, as businesses fuel the construction of this new digital landscape just as they drove the changes of city skylines. The old domains fall into disuse in the foreground, appearing shorter and abandoned when looking at the city skyline.
