Value of nature - ecological footprint and biocapacity

Interactive visualization of ecological footprint and biocapacity. Check out the live interactive version. Much of the discussion on finite global resources has focused on the depletion of non-renewable resources, such as petroleum. It is increasingly evident that renewable resources, and the ecosystem services they provide, are also at great or even greater risk. Explore how the world uses renewable resources. See the 2007 natural renewable resource capacity and use (footprint) per nation. Compare countries to the worldwide highest levels or just two countries against each other. Change scale from per person to per nation; or select a specific kind of resource. Scenario view: suppose all people in the world use resources like the average person in a specific country, would one globe be sufficient? This interactive visualization is developed in Javascript with the RaphaelJS library and therefore doesn't require a flash plug-in.
