Blame it on the sexual revolution or the current economy, but cohabitation in the United States has increased by 1,500 percent over the past half century. In fact, now half of married couples have lived together before tying the knot. While many think "testing the waters" before making the leap makes sense, recent research suggests couples that live together sans wedding vows have a lower rate of marriage success over the lifetime of the relationship.
