Sustainability Does Grow on Trees
Previously underdeveloped countries in the Americas and Africa have begun to prosper. As their GDPs rise, the degree of malnutrition is simultaneously decreasing. Although deforestation is aiding growth and increasing quality of life in these countries, the rate at which it is occurring jeopardizes their economic, environmental and social sustainability. If simultaneous replanting of vegetation is not part of the trajectory, these countries will not see a sustainable future.
