Near Earth Objects

Near Earth Objects

This visualisation shows the top 10 most likely asteroids to hit earth as detected and calculated by the JPL Sentry System.

N.E.Os or Near Earth Objects are constantly being tracked and detected by scientists and scientific equipment all over the world. N.E.Os are asteroids that might pass close enough to earth to collide. These objects are tracked to ensure nothing too big comes too close to earth, and to give us ample warning time to react to any incoming asteroids. The likelihood of earth being hit by a large asteroid is exceedingly low, use this tool to explore the current top 10 most likely asteroids to hit earth, their probability of hitting and the damage (if any) they could do.
