GDP Per capita(US$) v/s % of urban population with access to improved sanitation facilities

The visualization brings out a strong correlation between GDP per capita and % of population with access to improved sanitation facilities. Gabon appears as an outlier – with a high per capita income of 10000$, only 33% of the country’s population has access to improved sanitation facilities.  (A reason could be that Gabon has a skewed income distribution and a third of the population is poor.)
Regional variations
The most notable observation here is that Sub Saharan Africa covers the whole range – there are countries with 15% of population having access to improved sanitation facilities (Madagascar) and countries with 97% of population having access to improved sanitation facilities (Seychelles).
