Bloomberg Billionaires Index

Bloomberg Billionaires Index

The Bloomberg Billionaires Index visualizes a daily ranking of the world’s richest people as reported by a team of Bloomberg journalists. The index is a dynamic measure of the top 100 billionaires based on changes in markets, the economy and personal assets. Users can sort the list of billionaires by rank (total net worth) or by changes to their wealth in either dollar amounts or percent change. These changes can be tracked over time, placed geographically on a map or plotted against other variables. Users can also search for a specific individual or filter the list by industry, country of citizenship, gender, age or source of wealth. The profile view for each Bloomberg Billionaire contains a detailed analysis of how that person’s fortune has been tallied, as well as a summarized biography and links to Bloomberg articles and videos related to that individual.

i want to like this, but there are a few puzzling design choices. in the plot view, why don't you make the view taller so the head icons don't overlap so much thus difficult to see( and uncomfortable to look at)? you used the scrollbar in the other two views already afterall. in the map view, the bubbles are unnecessarily huge and they all overlap and look like a mess, pretty much renders the map unusable, i can't tell which is what. visualization is supposed to make information clearer. the app is otherwise pretty cool and sophisticated, but a good experience kinda ruined by these small silly problems.
