Visualization and Medical Graphics (VMG)
School of Computer Science, Bangor University, UK
The Visualization & Medical Graphics (VMG) group is the largest research group within the School of Computer Science at Bangor University. Our research interests include medical visualization, virtual environments, information visualization and visual analytics, use of haptics interfaces, segmentation, artificial life, high dynamic range imaging, and augmented reality. We were the hosts of Eurographics 2011 - the first time this leading international conference on Computer Graphics has come to Wales (http://eg2011.bangor.ac.uk/).
Advanced Visualization, Virtual Environments and Computer Animation (MRes)
This course aims at providing computer science graduates with the knowledge and skills to specialise in advanced computer graphics principles and practice, as well as gaining exposure to research activities in this field. Students completing this course will have a firm grasp of the current practices and directions in computer graphics techniques and be able to apply them to scientific visualization, virtual environments, and computer animation.
BSc in Computer Science
Computer science is the study of the theoretical foundations of information and computation and their implementation and application in computer systems. Computer science has many sub-fields; some emphasise the computation of specific results (such as computer graphics), while others (such as knowledge discovery) relate to the process of finding novel, interesting, and useful patterns in data. The School of Computer Science at Bangor specialises in these two exciting sub-fields, together with offering a broad expertise in the fundamentals of computing. There is a great demand from business, industry and education for graduates who are numerate, can handle computers with confidence and are able to communicate. The School of Computer Science will provide you with the education and training you need to meet this demand from the most theoretical course to those that deal with applications at the cutting-edge of modern technology.
