National Cancer Institute

The National Cancer Institute (NCI) leads the National Cancer Program and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) effort to dramatically reduce the burden of cancer and improve the lives of cancer patients and their families, through research into prevention and cancer biology, development of new interventions, and training of new researchers. As part of this effort, NCI supports an integrated program of research in behavioral science and informatics, cancer surveillance, genetic, health services, epidemiology, and survivorship. Data from this research provides key insight into the burden of cancer in the population, access to care, and cancer-related knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors.
